What Is an Aluminum Privacy Fence?
An aluminum privacy fence is a fence built from powder-coated aluminum slats set close enough together, or overlapped, that it blocks the view into your yard. It gives you the screening people usually buy wood or vinyl for, with a clean architectural line and none of the staining, warping or rot.
Lumina aluminum privacy fence panels are made from T6063 architectural aluminum with a high-performance powder coat. The slats run horizontally, which reads as modern and calm next to stucco, block walls and contemporary homes. Because aluminum does not rust, rot or absorb water, the fence looks the same years from now as it does the day it goes in, and it is backed by a 25-year limited warranty.
Not every yard needs the same amount of privacy. A side yard facing a neighbor’s window may need a fully closed fence, while a patio may only need the sightline broken. That is why we offer three levels.
Aluminum Privacy Fence Panels: Three Levels of Privacy
Each series comes in 6 x 6 ft and 8 x 8 ft panels with matching posts and gates. Choose by how much you want to see through, and how much air you want to move.

Linea: Full Privacy With Overlapping Slats
Linea’s 4 inch slats overlap one another, so the panel reads as one continuous surface with no gaps between the slats. It is the choice when you want a true privacy fence: a side yard, a pool, a property line facing a two-story neighbor. Linea is also our wood-look series, in natural oak and walnut as well as matte black and white.

Summit: Wide 6 Inch Slats for a Modern Look
Summit uses bold 6 inch slats with narrow spacing. From the street it reads as a privacy fence, but the slim reveal between the slats keeps it from feeling like a wall. It is the most architectural of the three and suits street-facing runs and modern homes where the fence is part of the design.

Ventura: Louvered Privacy That Lets Air Through
Ventura’s 3 inch louvers are angled like a shutter. Looking straight at the fence, the view is blocked, while air and light still pass through the blades. It is the natural choice around patios, outdoor kitchens and pool equipment, where you want screening without trapping heat.

Black, White and Wood-Look Aluminum Privacy Fence
A black aluminum fence is the most popular choice for privacy. Matte black recedes into planting at night and frames the garden during the day, and it pairs with almost any exterior. White suits coastal and traditional homes on select styles.
For the warmth of timber without the maintenance, Linea comes in natural oak and walnut wood-grain finishes. You get the look of an aluminum and wood fence, but the grain is part of the powder coat, so there is nothing to seal, stain or replace.
Aluminum Privacy Fence Heights and Panel Sizes
Linea, Summit and Ventura each come in two panel sizes: 6 x 6 ft for a standard privacy height, and 8 x 8 ft where you want more screening. Panels mount between matching aluminum posts, and the same slat continues into the gates so the line never breaks.
What Is a Good Height for a Privacy Fence?
Six feet is the most common height for a residential privacy fence. It blocks the view of most people standing in the next yard and works for side and back yards. Front yards usually call for something lower or more open, which is where Hampton or Ridgeline can carry the same look at a friendlier scale.
Is an 8 Foot Privacy Fence Too High?
Not if the site calls for it. An 8 foot fence makes sense on a slope, beside a two-story neighbor, or along a busy street. Height rules vary by city and by where the fence sits on the lot, and taller fences often need a permit, so check with your city before you plan. We are happy to talk through the layout with you.

Matching Aluminum Privacy Gates
A privacy fence is only as private as its gate. Every privacy series has matching aluminum privacy gates with the same slat, so the fence and gate read as one surface:
Pedestrian gate
4 x 6 ft for side yards, garden entries and pool openings.
Double swing gate
8 x 6 ft for wider openings and service access.
Sliding gate
16 x 6 ft for driveways, gliding along the fence line instead of swinging into the drive.
How to Add Privacy to an Existing Fence or Wall
You do not always need to start over. Many Los Angeles homes already have a block wall or an open fence that is simply too low or too see-through. Here are the two cleanest ways to add privacy.
Raise a Block Wall With Aluminum Wall Toppers
Lumina Wall Toppers mount on top of an existing concrete, brick or stucco wall to add height and screening without rebuilding it. They come in matte black and white, and they add a clean contemporary line to an older wall.
Add an Aluminum Privacy Screen
For a patio, a hot tub or a single view you want to block, a freestanding aluminum privacy screen can be placed exactly where you need it. Screens work well alongside an existing fence that you want to keep.
If your current fence is past its best, replacing the panels with a privacy series is often simpler than patching it. Bring photos of the fence or wall to the showroom and we will help you decide.
Aluminum vs Vinyl and Wood for a Privacy Fence
Vinyl is a common choice for privacy because its solid panels block the view completely. Wood is familiar and warm. Both have trade-offs that show up over the years.
Wood needs staining or sealing, and it warps, splits and rots, especially where sprinklers hit it. Vinyl can fade, chalk and crack in strong sun and heat, and the panels can look plain on a modern home. Aluminum does not rot, rust or warp, the powder coat holds its color, and horizontal slats give a more architectural look. With Linea you also get solid, gap-free privacy, so you do not have to give up coverage to get the modern style.
Upfront, an aluminum privacy fence usually costs more than wood or vinyl. Over its life it is often the better value, because there is nothing to repaint, reseal or replace. For a deeper look at metal options, read our aluminum vs wrought iron fence guide.
How Long Does an Aluminum Privacy Fence Last?
A well-installed aluminum fence is built for the long term. Aluminum does not rust, so there is no corrosion creeping out from scratches or welds, and the powder coat is baked on rather than painted. Lumina fence systems carry a 25-year limited warranty.
Maintenance: What It Takes
Very little. Rinse the panels with a hose a few times a year, or wash them with mild soap and water if dust or sprinkler spots build up. There is no staining, sealing or painting, ever. Keep plants and irrigation trimmed back from the posts and the fence will look as sharp in ten years as it does today.

Aluminum Privacy Fence FAQs
Is aluminum good for a privacy fence?
Yes. Aluminum panels give you the coverage of wood or vinyl without rot, rust, warping or repainting. With overlapping slats like Linea, you get a fully closed fence; with Summit or Ventura you get high privacy with a lighter, more modern look.
What are the downsides of an aluminum privacy fence?
The main one is upfront cost, which is usually higher than wood or vinyl. A fully closed fence also catches more wind than an open one, so post spacing and footings need to be planned properly. If airflow matters to you, a louvered style like Ventura is a good middle ground.
Is an aluminum privacy fence cheaper than wood or vinyl?
Not upfront. Over the life of the fence it often costs less, because there is no staining, sealing, painting or board replacement. Request a quote with your layout and we will put together the right package for your property.
How does an aluminum privacy fence handle wind?
Aluminum is strong for its weight, and it will not warp or split the way wood can. A solid fence takes more wind than an open one, so the post layout matters. Louvered and slatted styles let some wind through, and we can talk through the best option for an exposed site.
Can an aluminum privacy fence go on a sloped yard?
Yes. On a slope the panels are usually set in steps, each panel level with the next one stepping down the hill, so the slats stay straight and horizontal. Share your site details and photos with us and we can plan the run.
Can I see the privacy fence panels in person?
Yes. Visit our Panorama City showroom to compare finishes and slat styles in person, Monday to Friday 8 am to 5 pm, or Sunday 10 am to 4 pm by appointment.
