Best Fence Installation in Agoura Hills
Aluminum fence, gates and privacy fence for Agoura Hills homes, from foothill neighborhoods to semi-rural lots in Old Agoura. Supplied from our showroom and installed through our licensed installation partners.
Fencing for Agoura Hills Homes
Agoura Hills is its own city in the Santa Monica Mountains foothills along the 101, between Calabasas and Westlake Village. Alongside suburban neighborhoods it keeps a semi-rural, equestrian character in areas like Old Agoura, where horse properties and trails are part of daily life.
That mix means two very different fence projects. In suburban neighborhoods, owners want privacy along the side and rear, a neat front fence and a gate that suits the home. On larger and equestrian lots, the fence has to fit a more rural look, respect trail access and work around horse-keeping space.
Agoura Hills writes its own fence rules, so the numbers below are different from Los Angeles. Our Westlake Village project, just a few minutes west, shows a Hampton fence and gate that fits this part of the county well.
Agoura Hills Fence Height Rules
Agoura Hills sets fence heights in its municipal code (Section 9606.2). The main limits for homes:
- Front yard: 3.5 feet.
- Corner side yard: 3.5 feet at the property line, or 6 feet if set back at least 5 feet.
- Interior side and rear yards: 6 feet, or 8 feet where the lot backs onto a commercial zone.
- Retaining walls: up to 6 feet.
- Larger and flag lots: on lots of 15,000 square feet or more, and flag lots, the Planning Director may allow up to 6 feet in required yards, with front and street-side fences kept open enough for visibility.

What Shapes a Fence in Agoura Hills
Old Agoura and equestrian lots
The Old Agoura overlay encourages equestrian-style front fencing in white or natural wood, and the equestrian overlay sets aside space on larger lots for keeping horses. If you are in either overlay, talk to the city about how a modern fence fits before you order.
Trail access
Agoura Hills protects public trail access, and fencing may not block a public trail. If a trail runs along or near your lot, check the alignment before planning the run.
Wildfire risk
Agoura Hills has thousands of acres in Very High Fire Hazard Severity Zones. Owners near open hillside are rethinking wood fencing near the house. Our Zone 0 fence guide explains the rules for the area closest to homes.
Foothill slopes
Many lots slope toward the hills. Aluminum panels step cleanly down a grade, keeping the slats level and the run straight.
Privacy in suburban neighborhoods
With a 6-foot limit on interior side and rear yards, a fully closed or high-privacy aluminum fence gets the most screening out of the height allowed.
HOA neighborhoods
Some Agoura Hills communities have HOA rules for fence style and color. Check yours first, and bring the guidelines to the showroom.
Sun, heat and a finish that lasts
Agoura Hills summers are hot and dry, and long afternoons of sun fade stained wood and chalk older vinyl. A powder-coated aluminum finish keeps its color and never needs repainting, which matters most on long runs around larger lots.

Frequently Asked Questions
Do you install fences in Agoura Hills?
Yes, we do. We install through our licensed installation partners. We supply the fence, gates and hardware from our showroom.
How tall can a fence be in Agoura Hills?
Under the Agoura Hills code, front-yard fences are limited to 3.5 feet and interior side and rear fences to 6 feet, or 8 feet next to a commercial zone. Corner side yards allow 6 feet when set back 5 feet. Confirm with the city.
Can I put a modern fence in Old Agoura?
The Old Agoura overlay encourages equestrian-style front fencing in white or natural wood. It is guidance, but talk to the city before choosing a modern front fence there.
Can my fence block a trail?
No. Agoura Hills does not allow fencing to block public trail access. Check trail alignment if one runs near your lot.
Is aluminum a good choice near open hillside?
Many owners near open land are moving away from wood fencing close to the house. Aluminum does not rot or need repainting. Check current fire-zone rules for your lot.
Do you supply contractors working in Agoura Hills?
Yes. Contractors and builders buy aluminum fence, gates and posts from us for their own projects. Call (818) 647-0007 or see our wholesale page.
Can I see the fences before I decide?
Yes. Visit our showroom at 14600 Arminta St, Panorama City, Monday to Friday 8 am to 5 pm, or Sunday 10 am to 4 pm by appointment.
