Louvered Aluminum Pergolas in Sherman Oaks

Motorized louvered pergolas, zip screens and glass enclosures for Sherman Oaks patios and hillside terraces. Set up as finished rooms in our Panorama City showroom and installed through our licensed installation partners.

Pergolas for Sherman Oaks Homes

Sherman Oaks has two kinds of outdoor space. South of Ventura Boulevard, hillside homes open onto terraces and view decks. North of Ventura, flatter lots put the patio a few yards from the neighbors.

A louvered aluminum pergola works for both. The roof slats open for sun and air or close for shade and rain, and zip screens, glass, heat and light turn it into a room you use most of the year. Frames are aluminum in matte black or white, sized to your space, so there is no wood to stain or replace.

What you can build

Pergolas That Suit Sherman Oaks

From a simple shade roof to a glass room.

Louvered pergolas

Our LU168 and LU220 pergolas have motorized roof slats. Angle them toward a hillside view in the morning and close them against the afternoon sun.

Privacy from close neighbors

Motorized zip screens drop on the sides facing a neighbor, and decorative aluminum panels can screen one side for good. Useful on the narrower lots north of Ventura.

Glass rooms

Fixed and lifting glass windows, folding glass doors and frameless sliding doors turn the pergola into a sunroom, with infrared heaters, a ceiling fan and LED downlights.

Permits

Sherman Oaks is part of the City of Los Angeles. Many pergolas and patio covers need a permit from the Department of Building and Safety, depending on size, height, attachment to the house and distance from property lines. The city’s attached patio cover bulletin sets out what it reviews. Check with LADBS before you build; we can provide product information for your application.

Hillside terraces

On sloped lots south of Ventura, the pergola often sits on a terrace or deck facing the view. Tell us what it will stand on, and send photos, so the posts and footing can be planned for the site.

Close neighbors

On the flat side, an attached pergola along the back of the house keeps the yard open, and zip screens on the side facing the neighbor add privacy when you want it.

Near Mulholland Drive

Homes close to Mulholland can fall inside the Mulholland Scenic Parkway Specific Plan, which can require design review for work visible from the parkway. If you are nearby, ask the city whether it applies before ordering.

Questions

Frequently Asked Questions

Do you install pergolas in Sherman Oaks?

Yes, we do. We install through our licensed installation partners, and we supply the pergola, screens, glass and accessories from our showroom in Panorama City.

Do I need a permit for a pergola in Sherman Oaks?

Often, yes. Sherman Oaks is part of the City of Los Angeles, and many pergolas and patio covers need a permit from the Department of Building and Safety depending on size, height, attachment to the house and distance from property lines. Check with LADBS before you build; we can provide product information for your application.

What is the difference between a louvered and a fixed pergola?

A louvered pergola, like our LU168 or LU220, has motorized roof slats you open for sun and air or close for shade and rain. A fixed pergola, such as our wood-grain model, gives steady shade with the look of timber in powder-coated aluminum.

Can a pergola give privacy from the neighbors?

Yes. Motorized zip screens drop down on the sides that face a neighbor or the low sun, and decorative aluminum panels can screen one side permanently.

Can I use the pergola in winter?

Add infrared heaters and close the louvers, or enclose the pergola with fixed or lifting glass windows and folding or sliding glass doors to make a sunroom you can use all year.

Where can I see the pergolas?

At our showroom, 14600 Arminta St, Panorama City, where pergolas are set up as finished outdoor rooms. Monday to Friday 8 am to 5 pm, or Sunday 10 am to 4 pm by appointment.
